7.45 to 9.30am
MSC - Manchester Hall, Bridge Street
Andy Burnham will be our first breakfast guest star in 2019 at the Manchester Sporting Club.
The Mayor of Greater Manchester is a highly popular and leading figure in the city and region and a massive supporter of sport.
Burnham, the former MP for Leigh as well as Secretary of State for Culture, Media & Sport and also Secretary of State for Health, as well as Shadow Home Secretary,
has been Mayor since 2017 and has made the city's homelessness one of his major focal points. He also oversaw the aftermath of the Manchester Arena bombing.
In terms of sport he is a lifelong Everton fan, a Honorary Vice-President of Leigh Centurions RLFC and the current President of the Rugby Football League.
Come and listen to him on all things Manchester, sport and a small sprinkling of politics, too, over breakfast at the MSC.
MSC. Wednesday, December 12th. 6-9pm.
Andrew "Freddie" Flintoff has enjoyed the sort of career both in sport and beyond that most of us can only dream about.
One of the most high profile cricketers in the world Freddie was also one of the greatest all-rounders England has ever produced.
He played in 79 test matches bagging 226 wickets and scoring 3,845 runs, and if these figures are not impressive enough, he produced many match-winning performances, notably during the 2005 Ashes-winning series. He also captained England and played in 141 one day internationals as well.
His career post cricket has been equally successful. A captain in the popular, James Corden-hosted "A League of Their Own" on Sky One TV, he has also featured in various other shows including "Freddie Fries Down Under," "Cannonball," the very frank and honest "The Hidden Side of Sport" and much more.
Now he looks forward to being one of the co-hosts of the BBC's "Top Gear" next year.
Come and meet Freddie over pre dinner drinks, enjoy a sumptuous three-course dinner, a night of good fun and networking, and a Q&A with the main star.
The dinner is in association with the Steven Croft testimonial year and Steven, Freddie's Lancashire cricket teammate for many years, will be there on the night as well.
December 4th, 2018: 1:30pm - 4:30pm
He is, according to Sir Steve Redgrave, one of Britain's greatest ever Olympians, and who would argue with Sir Steve? His fellow knight of the realm, Sir Ben Ainslie, will be joining the LSC for our December lunch at our Mayfair club and we are, quite frankly, too excited for words. Why? Well, let's start with four back to back Olympic gold medals in two different classes of sailing boats between 2000 and 2012 in the UK. (You can add an Olympic silver in 1996 into the mix, too). That, alone, makes Sir Ben one of our greatest Olympians and remember, he had one shot every Games, not multiple attempts at winning medals unlike other Olympic sports. But that's not all. Who can forget the epic America's Cup when Sir Ben joined the trailing American team to help turn a 8-1 deficit against New Zealand into a 9-8 victory? Not content with that Sir Ben then turned his attention to creating his own British team to win back the America's Cup last held on our shores in 1851. To do this he first obtained a £100M sponsorship and now, after falling short last year, he has secured a £153M deal as he remains hell bent on reclaiming the last major sporting trophy that eludes British sport. Who would bet against this serial winner? Come and see for yourselves in December.

Manchester Hall, Bridge St
In what will be his final major appearance before he fights for the world title he once held Carl Frampton will be our dinner guest at the MSC on November 15th.
Five weeks later the Northern Irish former super-bantamweight and super featherweight world boxing champion steps into the ring at a packed-out MEN Arena in Manchester to face the current IBF world featherweight champion Josh Warrington in what should be one of the fights of the year in Britain. Despite this Frampton will take time out of his busy and gruelling training camp to tell his story at the MSC and there is much, much more to it than simply what has gone on inside the ropes. The only Northern Irishman ever to hold two boxing world titles at the same time and, indeed, the second Irishman after Steve Collins, Manchester-based Frampton hails from Belfast, a city known for its troubled history. A Protestant, he is married to a Catholic woman and has a large following of die-hard fans from both Catholic and Protestant backgrounds who attend his fights in large numbers. He sees unifying people with historical religious and political differences as very much part of his mission in life.
Come and listen to Carl in Manchester, meet other boxers on the night and enjoy photos, drinks and a two course dinner.
The LSC are delighted to welcome this year's Tour de France winner to the club for breakfast, a talk and the signing of his book published in the same week. Geraint Thomas followed in the footsteps of Bradley Wiggins and Chris Froome to become the 3rd British cyclist to claim cycling's most coveted title in the summer, winning the Tour de France for Team Sky for an incredible sixth time in the last seven years. Come and listen to how this proud Welshman pulled this amazing feat off over breakfast in Soho and grab a £20 copy of "The Tour According to G - My Journey to the Yellow Jersey" signed personally for you on the day.
Thursday, November 8th, 2018: Grosvenor House, Park Lane.
The LSC are delighted to announce that we are hosting what promises to be the best rugby dinner of the year anywhere featuring the most stellar line up of global rugby legends.
Come and join us as we pay homage to Martin Johnson (the man who lifted the 2003 rugby world cup for England), Francois Pienaar (who did the same for South Africa in 1995 in front of Nelson Mandela who wore his green and gold jersey), Sean Fitzpatrick (one of the greatest All Blacks of all time) and Sam Warburton (who led the British & Irish Lions to a series win over Australia and a draw against New Zealand last year). Be entertained by the phenomenal Dynamo, meet countless other stars in the room from sport and showbusiness and help raise money for a number of amazing causes. All this and more takes place at the magnificent Grosvenor House Hotel five days after England play South Africa at Twickenham, and two days before they play New Zealand in the autumn internationals. This is a must not miss event for all rugby fans and sport fans, and a superb way to entertain clients.
Timings: 18.30: Champagne reception. 19.30: Dinner. 22.00: Main Interviews. 2am: Carriages.

Fourteen years ago Great Britain were bit part players in world cycling. Fourteen years on this country dominates the sport. Much of the credit must go to our breakfast guest in Manchester, Sir Dave Brailsford. The former Performance Director for British Cycling oversaw the likes of Sir Chris Hoy, Sir Bradley Wiggins, Victoria Pendleton, Jason Kenny, Laura Trott and many more clean up in the velodromes around the world whilst British cyclists claimed more wins on the road, on the BMX and mountain bikes. At both the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games Team GB won an astonishing eight gold medals. Between 2007-13 GB won 59 world titles. Turning his attention to the coveted Tour de France Brailsford, who became Team Sky General Manager, announced a British rider would win in five years. He was wrong. It took three. After Wiggins won in 2012 Chris Froome won the yellow jersey four times in the next five years before, this year, Geraint Thomas claimed the biggest title in the sport. All of this was under Brailsford's watch. Come and listen to this amazing success story over breakfast, meet like-minded members and be inspired by a man who took all his doubters on - and won.

Nobody has won the world snooker championships in the modern era more than Stephen Hendry. His seven world titles won during a 1990's decade he dominated beats Steve Davis, Ronnie O'Sullivan and all the other greats that have created such drama in colour on our TV screens for the past 40 years. He was also world number one for eight years in a row, won 36 ranking tournaments, including six Masters and five UK Championships and made 775 competitive century breaks in a stellar, 27-year career. Now he has his autobiography out entitled: "Stephen Hendry: Me and the Table," and you have the chance to meet him, hear his story in a 30 minute Q&A, drink, network and receive a free, personally-signed copy of his book. In fact this will prove to be so popular that we are staging two events on the same day, a lunch time engagement at our Soho Club at L'Escargot and an evening event at the superb Boisdale in Canary Wharf. Come and join us at one or the other and let's all go snooker loopy.

The Manchester Sporting Club's second sporting lunch will be with one of the greatest captains of the England cricket team, certainly in recent years. Michael Vaughan will forever be remembered for leading his country to an epic Ashes win over Australia in 2005 after one of the most memorable series ever. But there was much more to the batsman than this, including 82 tests, over 5,700 runs and 18 centuries, as well as 86 ODI's. In theAshes series down under in 2002-03 he scored three centuries as he became the number one ranked batsman in the world. As England captain he also won a series away in the West Indies for the first time since 1968 and a series away in South Africa for the first time since 1965. After retiring in 2009 he has enjoyed a successful broadcastingcareer working for Test Match Special, Radio 5 Live and Channel 5 cricket among others. The MSC are delighted to welcome one of the most respected figures in English cricket to the club.
Pre lunch drinks and photos with Michael Vaughan.
